Cabinet liner

When you move to a new place you are most likely on budget. We were and I was looking for a cheap option for lining our kitchen cabinets. In some drawers I used carboard, but it is not easy to wipe (well I don't wipe kitchen cabinets that often, but I may ehm). On one IKEA trip I cam across these lovely place mats. Yes they are plastic but they were so cheap that I could not resist. I cut them to size and put them in the bottom of each shelf. They are very practical and fun.

Creating lovely display of pictures on a wall is easy with this little trick.  Put a blob of tooth paste on the back of the picture where the hanging bracket is. Place it on the wall where you want it, put the picture there, push on it. When you pick it the toothpaste will be where the nail should go. Easy to wipe off once you hammer in the nail.

Covering an old outlet

The electrician said we have to keep this ugly plastic lid on the old outlet. So we did in style ;O).

Game table with edge

I was getting frustrated with all the little lego pieces on the floor (and I love lego!). To solve the problem I attached 1/4 round to the edges of the table. It is easy project but requires some tools (or make friends with home depot guys ;O).
The table is a big hit.

When we move to our house we had so many expenses, curtains were important to me but I did not want to spend much money in them.
I found this lovely fabric (my husband is dreaming about red velvet pool table) over 20 feet for 2 bucks and I spend about one hour making them. Super easy sewing project, fantastic for beginner.

Aging wood

here is one example of the difference between painted wood (picture frame in this case) and painting and aging it (sanding method).

Decorating kids room

This is our son's bedroom. We decided marine theme, rustic, blue colors and wood..
We decided to hang original oil paintings of ships. I think they are long lasting and may even have value in it.
The light is outdoor porch light, that reminded us a light from a ship. It fits well in the room.

Organizing closet

I always liked using what I already have, this is an old dresser we had. I took out the shelves and we are using it as shoe storage inside front hall closet. I may paint it one day....
